Verbal and Numerical Ability: Their Correlation with Mathematical Modeling Ability

This study focuses on analyzing the relationship between verbal and numerical abilities in ability to make mathematical models. The population of this is junior high school students who use 2013 curriculum Mataram City. research sample was taken with a stratified cluster sampling system. used 411 students. Data were using 3 tests, namely test, ability, data collected descriptive statistics inferential statistics, multiple linear regression analysis. Descriptive show that more than half respondents are medium or category for three tested. Furthermore, based results it found have significant effect variables, Y=0.355X1+0.204 X2-5.446, where Y score models, X1 X2 ability. Together, numeric affect models by 61.2%. Meanwhile, has direct at 35.5%. 56.6%. findings imply enhancing both same time can boost effectiveness effectively each separately.
